Project details

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Cambridge, MA

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is an independent, coeducational, privately endowed university, organized into five schools (architecture and planning; engineering; humanities, arts, and social sciences; management; and science). Kaplan was retained by MIT from 2017-2018 to renovate three lecture halls and a seminar room for the Sloan School of Management’s Tang Center/Building E51. The project involved major upgrades to almost 8,000 SF of classroom space, including new carpet, paint, and refinished millwork as well as the installation of new seating and acoustical wall coverings.

The two-phased project was completed on a fast-tracked schedule to accommodate the graduate school’s schedule, with two classrooms completed last summer and the remaining two classrooms completed during January winter break. Kaplan adjusted its work hours to minimize disruptions to the career development office below and allow graduate recruiting interviews to be conducted during normal business hours.
