Sean Keaney’s passion for construction developed from a young age, inspired by his grandfather who was a skilled carpenter. The exposure to his grandfather’s craftsmanship and the desire to contribute to the construction industry led Sean to establish a career in safety. Today, with over a decade of experience in the construction industry, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to further enhance Kaplan’s dedication to creating secure and hazard-free jobsites.
As safety director, Sean is responsible for overseeing and implementing comprehensive safety programs across all Kaplan projects. He develops and manages safety protocols, risk assessments, and training initiatives to bolster workplace safety. He also maintains Kaplan’s environmental health and safety policy, the backbone of the firm’s safety program.
Sean holds a CRIS® (Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist) certification from the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI). He is a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST®) and an Associate Safety Professional (ASP®), certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). Sean is an OSHA 500 trainer and manages the company’s CPR/first aid/AED training program.
Sean possesses extensive experience in cast-in-place concrete structures, NFPA 1 regulations, and has a deep passion for crane work. He earned a Bachelor of Science in occupational safety from Keane State College and previously served as regional safety manager at Suffolk Construction.
