Project details

455 Harvard Street

Brookline, MA

Kaplan Construction recently wrapped up construction for a new four-story mixed-use building at 455 Harvard Street in Brookline, Mass. The 26,500 SF building features 17 rental apartments and 1,735 SF of ground-floor retail space.

Designed by architecture firm CUBE 3, the units range from one to three bedrooms and four apartments will be designated as affordable housing. The new development includes a roof deck, fitness center, and 12 parking spaces below the podium. The façade is a combination of brick, precast, and traditional sheathing, and the three floors with apartments are traditional wood frame construction above one level of steel and slab on deck.

With the building site located on the intersection of a traditional residential street and urban retail corridor, the design objective was to respect and blend in with the existing architectural language of the Coolidge Corner neighborhood. The project also aimed to improve the pedestrian experience along Harvard Street.
