BOSTON – August 12, 2025 – Kaplan Construction, a WBE general contractor and construction management firm providing comprehensive building programs across Greater Boston, announced it has once again been named an Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). This marks the 27th year Kaplan has earned the national credential, which recognizes construction firms that consistently uphold high standards across a range of performance areas.
Just 591 contractors across the country earned AQC status in 2024, placing Kaplan among a select group of companies recognized for their longstanding commitment to quality, safety, workforce development, and community engagement.
Launched more than three decades ago, ABC’s AQC program recognizes construction firms that demonstrate excellence across five key areas: delivering high-quality work, maintaining strong health and safety practices, talent management, investing in craft and management education, and giving back through community involvement.
In earning the AQC credential, each member company commits to industry-leading health and safety by achieving the Gold, Platinum or Diamond level in ABC’s STEP® Health and Safety Management System. Established in 1989, STEP provides contractors and suppliers with a robust, no-cost framework for measuring safety data and benchmarking with peers in the industry, with top performers achieving incident rates nearly seven times safer than the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics industry average.
AQC is recognized by the Construction Users Roundtable, an organization founded by leading construction project owners, and AQC members are eligible for ABC’s Top Performers lists, which rank contractors based on work hours.
