Scheduling manager Anne Sequeira was recently spotlighted in this year’s New England Real Estate Journal’s Women in Construction spotlight, which features personal and professional achievements and industry insights from women across New England’s A/E/C industry.
As scheduling manager, Anne analyzes all aspects of a project to prepare and maintain schedules; develops and reviews project baselines; and monitors project progress.
What is one project or achievement in your career that you are most proud of, and how did it impact your organization or community? Not only did I work on a bid proposal for the National Mall Turf Restoration and Irrigation project in Washington, DC and hand-deliver it to the National Park Service’ Denver Service Center, but I also worked on site after being awarded the project—including overseeing the installation of one of four total underground cisterns. Together, these cisterns collect up to one million gallons of rainwater for turf irrigation. As the National Mall hosts over thirty million visitors annually, I am proud to have been a part of this hidden gem of sustainability.
What trends or innovations do you believe will shape the future of your field, and how are you positioning yourself (or your firm) to be at the forefront? As buildings become increasingly more complex in response to technology integration, stricter energy efficiency standards, diverse occupant needs, evolving building codes, and the need for greater sustainability, our work as builders becomes increasingly more interdependent. It really does take a village (and a plan)! To shape critical design and construction workflows and facilitate collaborative decision-making that enables successful project delivery, I have found that questions like “What do you need in order to do your work?” are not only simple, but also very effective.
What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work? I can always depend on my 12-year-old rescue pittie Diamond for unconditional love and motivation.
Do you have a hidden talent or a surprising fact about yourself that most people wouldn’t know? I am a thoughtful gift-giver and expert-level wrapper. Social Intuition? Luck? Maybe both.
